Hello! I’m Erin Wing. I’m a mom of three boys and a former elementary school teacher.
I really (really) want my boys to love literacy. My husband and I try to incorporate lots of simple reading, writing, listening and speaking activities into our home routines, so hopefully by the time our boys grow up, they’ll be super smart and capable.
I know teachers work hard but they just can’t do it all. That’s why I try to keep up on the latest in education, and I try to reinforce at home what my kids are learning in school.
My family is busy. (Can you relate?) So the literacy activities you’ll find here are quick and easy. In fact, you can do lots of them in the car on the way to soccer.
Did I mention I have boys? Sometimes we practice spelling while bouncing a ball, or we shoot arrows at sight words. I think it’s a good idea to use movement, music, color and other bells and whistles to make literacy interesting for all kids.
